Mira and Esme and Katie's Blog

Today some of my classmates and us came to the CLC. We were chosen because we are gifted and talented at French. We were registered at school, then we walked up here from our school. When we got there, firstly, we chose a French video clip from a program called Espresso and wrote the script for it in French, in a word document:

Camille: Je m’appelle Camille. Voici ma famille. Il y a six personnes. Il y a mon papa, ma maman, ma petite sœur Lisa, mon grand frère Quentin, mon petit frère Martin, et moi ! Mon papa s’appelle Philipe et il est médecin. Il travaille au cabinet médical prés de la maison.

Christine: A tout a l’heure !

Camille : Maman s’appelle Christine. Elle aime faire du jardinage. Mon frère, Quentin, a quinze ans. Il est plus grand que moi. Il adore jouer à l’ordinateur. Il est fou de ça. Martin a sept ans. Il est sportif. Il aime jouer au foot avec Quentin. Et Lisa, elle a trois ans. Elle est très petite et mignonne. Elle aime jouer. Et moi, j’ai douze ans. J’adore écouter de la musique. Et toi ? J'aime aussi me promener avec mes Zoé et Lucie. Zoé est très grande. Lucie est très petite. Voici mon chat, Minette.

After, we used a program called Adobe audition to record our own voices saying our scripts that we had adapted from the original videos:


Moi

Salut, je m’appelle Mira, et j’ai quatorze ans. J’habite a Londres avec ma famille- il y a quatre personnes- ma mère, ma petite sœur, mon petit frère, et MOI !!! Ma mère est professeur à l’école. Ma sœur s’appelle Georgie elle a onze ans, et elle est très créative. Elle aime danser et regarder la télévision. Mon frère s’appelle Aleksandar, qui a neuf ans et il adore jouer et regarder le foot, avec moi. Il est très mignon mais quelquefois il est vilain. J’adore ma famille…. Quelquefois !

After our break with drinks and biscuits, we all had to get into groups and create a role play in French. We then recorded it onto a Mac. Then we started to write this blog....

We all enjoyed ourselves because it was fun and we got to skip school. We learnt some new vocabulary, and all feel today was helpful because it used technology to improve and practice our French.

Today, Ms.Derrar accompanied 11 students from Camden School for Girls to a special gifted and talented French workshop in Camden Learning Centre.
Upon arrival, we where greeted by Gillian, who would be teaching us for the day.
We started by watching and listening to a clip of a French family, and we had to write down everything that the characters had said. After it was checked, we had to replace the script with our own information about ourselves. Once this was completed, we had to record ourselves reading our personalised script. After our recording was completed, we then had a break. We next had to create our own interview, about families, because they where then going to be video recorded with iMovie. After writing the script, we had lunch. After lunch we where then given a Mac Notebook to video record our interview. Once we had completed recording the interview, we could then send the video or podcast to our phone or MP3 player, via bluetooth. We then had to write a blog about our day. Overall, we had lots of fun and we would've liked to have stayed for longer.

Hanan

Today I came to clc to do a french course. At first we just watched a short flim clip of our choice. I chose a film clip about 1950's fashion. When watching it we had to write down everything that we heard on the video. Then we had to record ourselves saying it in french.
After this we got into pairs and made up our own conversations based on both of the films we watched.
This really helped with my french because we got to hear people speaking french and then just repeat what they said. Also i learnt alot of new vocabulary, mostly about fashion.

This was what the film i watched said
Voici la mode des années cinquante
La Dame porte une belle robe a pois
Et aussi une petite veste a pois
Elle a l’air très chic n’est-ce pas ?
Ces chaussures, cette robe plissée, ces gants, cette broche et ce chapeau
Voici le style classique
Cette dame porte un manteau de Fourrure, le chapeau et aussi en Fourrure
Voici le genre sophistiqué. Un manteau de soie et une belle robe de soirée brodée.
Et pour monsieur un chapeau, ça fait bien habillé, n'est ce pas! Regardez la plume!
Tout le monde porte des gants et un chapeau
Un smoking en soie fait toujours chic le soir.
La musique rock devient à la mode. Les vêtements sont pratiques pour danser

Me : Je suis styliste
Lucy : Aaah c’est bien, quel ton style préfère
Me : J’adore le style des années cinquante
Lucy : Des années cinquante?, qu’est-ce qu’il ils portaient a l’époque ?
Me : Les femmes portaient des robes soirées et des manteaux de fourrure
Lucy : C’est intéressant
Me : Oui tes intéressant

Me : Et toi, quel est ton métier
Lucy : Je suis zoo-oligiste
Me : Zoo-oligiste, pour quoi as tu choisi ce métier ?
Lucy : Parce que travailler avec les animaux me donne beaucoup de satisfactions
Me : Quel ton animal préfère ?
Lucy : Mes animaux préfères sont les zèbres et les poneys
Me : Pourquoi ?
Lucy : Parce que ils ont très mignonne et très jolie

Lucy

Today i came to the clc and watched a short video on the computer in french. Then i wrote out a script from the video i watched and recorded myself saying it (in french.) After this i wrote out a new script with my friend which was questions and answers. We then recorded it together as a film. It helped my speaking and listening skills because i had to really concentrate to manage to listen to the video and write what i heard in french. It also helped me because we got to hear the words being said so we could repeat them and get the pronounciation right. I learnt how to say and write questions that i didn't know before. I enjoyed today.

La mère s’appelle Tilley et sa fille s’appelle louise.
Louise et un animal extraordinaire!
Sa mère est un poney mais son père est un zèbre.
Louise a les rayures de son père et le pelage brun de sa mère.
mais sa queue n’est pas normale pour un poney .
Elle aime courir dans son champ.
Elles s’aiment beaucoup.
Louise aime sa mère et Tilley aime sa fille.
Elle est vraiment bizarre mais elle est si mignonne et très jolie

Lil Lee and Hang

We was brought to the CLC today by our french teacher- Ms Derrar. We were chosen for gifted and talented french workshop and this is what we done on our trip.
We listened to french dialogue about different topics and we had to choose one. We chose THE BECKHAMS. This helped us with our Listening skills and we had to translate what we heard onto Microsoft Word. We then made a french script from the information that we found. After that, we filmed ourselfs performing the scripts using a Apple laptop. We learnt alot of new french vocab such as- the verb "Connaitre". Also how to give our opinion using "A mon avis" and "Je pense que". We sent our video to our phones through bluetooth from the very clever computer!!! LOL!!!
Thanks to Gillian, we learnt how to incorparate french and ICT. And thanks to Ms Derrar, we learnt many knew things today!!!
Here is the script that we made:
Lee: Salut Hang!
Hang: Bonjour! Est-ce que tu connais David Beckham ?
Lee : Oui! Le footballeur !oui Je connais bien.
Hang : Qu’est ce tu penses de lui ?
Lee : Je pense qu’il est très beau et en plus il joue au foot superbement ! Et toi que penses-tu de lui ?
Hang : Moi, je ne l’aime pas beaucoup ! Je préféré Thierry Henry. Il est beaucoup plus beau et très sympathique. A mon avis c’est un bon joueur de football.
Lee : URGH! Non! Je préféré Beckham!

Camden School For Girls French (Anna and Rose)

We came to the CLC centre in Camden with Ms. Derrar. When we arrived, we were shown a site called Espresso. Espresso has many videos with french dialogue. We each picked one, listened to it and tried to write the script from what we heard. We then checked it with the original script and edited it to fit our, interests, abilities and personalities.
This helped us listen to the french accent, agree verbs and practice writing in french.
We then recorded ourselves speaking the script with Audition 1.5
This helped us to speak fluently and allowed us to listen to our mistakes.
We then transformed our scripts in pairs so they allowed us to speak in dialogue with two people.
After we had practically memerised the text, we videoed it using imovie on the laptops. This increased the fluency and gave us a drama opportunity!
We learned a lot of vocabulary and revised what we already knew.
It was a fun day overall and we improved our french too!

Victoria Beckham – Le interview

Interviewer : Bonjour Victoria, merci d’être venue.

Vic : De rien.

Interviewer : Comment va votre vie actuellement ?

Vic : Ma vie est fantastique ! J'adore ma famille.

Interviewer : Etes-vous triste que David est quitté le foot ?

Vic : Non, c’était bien pendant un moment mais maintenant ca suffit !

Interviewer : D’accord. Vous êtes très mince. N’avez-vous pas faim ?

Vic : Pardon ?

Interviewer : J’ai dit - Vos enfants sont ils heureux ?

Vic : Oui merci, Cruz est sain. Son anniversaire est le weekend prochain. Romeo est bien aussi, et très intelligent.

Interviewer : Et Brooklyn – il va bien aussi ?

Vic : Oui, il est très heureux.

Interviewer : Votre look est incroyable. Quel est votre habit préféré.

Vic : Mon chapeau blanc avec la bougie.

Interviewer : Super !! J’en voudrais un aussi !

Interviewer: C’est tout. C’était un plaisir. Merci et bonne chance.

Victoria : D’autres questions?

Interviewer: Non, c’est tout. On applaudi madame Beckham!

Victoria: Ok… merci de m’avoir invité.

Interviewer: De rien. A bientôt.
